One With Nature

When was the last time you were in the outdoors? Have you been to a park lately? To the beach? Hiking in the mountains? Where do you live? Can you even be outdoors? Have you ever experienced the magic of nature?

This past holiday weekend I was able to experience the ultimate in outdoor experiences – camping in the mountains. I slept outside, took long walks in the woods, laid in a boat on a beautiful lake, roasted marshmallows on an open fire, laughed, shared stories, and spent time with loved ones – all of this with a picturesque mountain view in the background.

I disconnected with all technology and was left to my own thoughts and feelings without any distractions. That may sound scary to some but for me, it was quite liberating. Without the distraction of technology, I was forced to just be with myself. And in the world we live in, that is really difficult. We are so connected that we can get emails, read books, read the news, look at photos, run businesses and more, all at the touch of a button. While this is incredible and overall useful, technology has led most of us to forget or not even know what it is like to be with ourselves.

So where can you go to disconnect? Can you get to a park and shut off your phone for a period of time? Are you lucky enough to live near the mountains or near a beach? Pick a day this month, set aside some time and shut off… Be One With Nature…Be One With Yourself… Take in all that you are feeling, let all your thoughts come and go…and as always, share your experience. With Love,
