Online Dating – Faux Pau or Cool

Dating in the 21st century is not what it used to be. There was a time when people were introduced, people met at bars and people actually noticed each other in a natural setting.
And now – you cannot go anywhere where you won’t
find people on their cell phones, ipads and laptops.

Technology has become an increasingly integral part of our lives. So let’s face it – to deny online dating because you think it is unnatural or uncool, well, really contradicts your passion and adaptation to the technology you use every single day. In fact, we as a society have become so accustomed to non face to face communication that I believe the "normal" way to meet someone is increasingly becoming online dating.

Online dating puts you out in the dating world using the very mechanism that has become part of your normal everyday life. I bet most of you text or BBM your friends or family way more than you call them or even see them. I would even take that a step further and actually say that you feel better just texting or BBMing rather than making the time to call. You also put yourself out there in the world of social networking by having facebook, a myspace page or tweeting.

So why not put yourself out there in the technological dating world? You actually may find
that online dating is more natural to you than trying to hook up with someone
in what you believe is a more natural setting.

One heed of caution though, if after the first few dates, there is no chemistry, it’s time to move on. No technology in the world can create that. I leave you with the challege
of having no fear, having faith in yourself and to go create an account on any dating site and let me know how your first date goes.
With Love,
